I think that Adena’s concerns are probably shared by most of us. The stated purpose of Revision (G) on page 4 was to grandfather in units that may not be in compliance, but that proposed revision is limited to setbacks and only applies for future construction if due to damage to the property that requires rebuilding. Adena’s proposed revision applies to grandfather in all aspects of existing buildings (so it would apply, for example, to the height restriction added on page 4 in (E)), and it would apply not just for rebuilding due to damage to the property, but also for renovations that may be needed as buildings age. I am in complete agreement with Adena’s suggested revision, which would assuage my own concerns about the proposal. I also agree with Adena’s comments of gratitude and appreciation for the thankless task that the Board has undertaken to update our documents, and hope that any other proposed revisions or disagreements are made in that same spirit. I hope that there is a mechanism for the Board to substitute Adena’s proposed language in full for the language proposed by the Board in (G) on page 4. With that change, I would favor the proposal and urge others to do the same.
