We are down to the last 2 months of business pre-Memorial weekend and it is a busy time at Tower Shores. To begin, our board meeting is this Monday night at 8:00 pm. All Tower Shores homeowners are urged to attend. Just dial: (872) 240-3412 Access Code: 726-741-949 participate. We will be discussing many important topics and it will be action packed.
BY-LAWS AND RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS AND OTHER NEWS
Definite topics on the agenda are reviewing the revised By-Laws and Restrictive Covenants to be presented to the community for a vote at our annual meeting (they will be up on the website shortly for your review); approve our 2019-2020 budget and obtain a schedule for summer beach preparations such as re-installing the fences, any dune planting or repair, installation of signs, volleyball net, life ring poles and parking signs around the neighborhood. Social, dunes, survey and trash schedules will be noted. Do we want to start the process of hiring a road attendant for Bay Road by Matt’s to help control traffic?
Additional hot topics will be the Dune Road crossover as it is not handicapped accessible and some residents have requested ease of use. If you have opinions pro or con, please let your voices be heard by attending the board meeting.
Feral cats: our only option is to capture, neuter and re-release back into Tower Shores. If anyone is in the business of cat rescue and can help us out, please participate on our call or submit your suggestions. We request that you do NOT feed the feral cats on others’ properties.
If time for new business, allow dogs on the beach after hours, which would be brought to the entire community for a vote. Our first discussion is to determine if we even can bring this topic to the community legally and financially. Many dog owners are passionate about their fur babies; others are not. Again, log into the web site and write in your pros and cons through the website Forum.
If you see any disrepairs in our community that need attention, please use the web site to identify for us.
CALL FOR ELECTIONS
It’s election time at Tower Shores and we are in need of volunteers to run for the Tower Shores board. It’s easy to be a board member, it doesn’t take up much of your time, and it is a great way to get to know your neighbors and help the community. Click “Contact Us” on the web site if you are interested or may be interested.
What is required of a board member:
Attend and participate in monthly board meetings – currently 2ndMonday of each month at 8 pm – 9:30 pm
Attend annual meeting – Memorial weekend, Sunday 9:30 am – 11:30 am
Participate in Tower Shores activities (Memorial BBQ, 4thof July functions, Labor Day S’mores)
After the annual meeting, board members have a meeting for organizational purposes. 4 offices (president, vp, treasurer and secretary)+ 5 members. Generally, each board member picks up a committee to chair (social, security, facilities, landscaping, web, vender oversight, whatever the board has an interest of). Sometimes special projects and many board members (and community members) volunteer to participate on numerous committees (budget, by-laws, dunes, – were this year’s committees).
Board members need to be impartial and independent. If unable to participate in that manner, recuse from that vote.
Different work and life background help round out the diversity of the board.
Overall: board concentrates on projects to keep our community running, moving forward, keeping up property values and making summer a very happy place!
I have been in touch with the president of Breakwater Beach, the private community to our south. She advised that they have hired 2 lifeguards for the summer (appx $25k per chair per summer) and that they will have a security guard on their north beach (our beach boundary). We are NOT welcome to sit or use their beach and their lifeguards are solely for their beach members. She was very cordial but clear that if we use their beach, we will be requested to move and then legal action will be taken. Please put this in your renter contracts so they are clearly aware.
If you have strong views on lifeguards for Tower Shores, please use the Forum on the web site for pros or cons. Fast math would raise our dues approximately $350.00 a year for lifeguards or to $875.00. Note: NOTHING is on the table for the 2019-2020 year.
Finally, remember to complete your beach repairs EARLY. We have a noise moratorium and it goes into effect quickly after Memorial Day. Visit your beach home and schedule your repairs NOW.
We’ll look for you Monday night.
