I arrived last night and was shocked by the blinding new streetlight by our place. See video and a picture at the links below:
The previous street light had some shielding on it that minimized the light intrusion into our house and was much dimmer so the park wasn’t lit up like downtown DC. Not only is this new light disruptive to our enjoyment of our home, it is very troublesome to the wild life in the park and on the beach.
Further, all of the owners in Building A have motion sensor security lights, so this streetlight is unnecessary as a security measure. It is on constantly and brighter than the full moon out to the water.
The current lighting is UNACCEPTABLE and its negative impacts require mitigation as soon as possible. Please visit http://www.darksky.org for more information about the effects of light pollution on wildlife (detrimental), human health (detrimental), and crime (no confirmed impact).

Sorry to hear this news. I’ve forwarded your post to the TSBA Board to be sure they’ve seen it.
Would be helpful to include in another post a daytime photo looking North on Ocean Road from about
the Dune Road crossover to make clear where this new light is located. Was the previous light on
the same pole?

The pole is the same, but the entire fixture has been replaced. The pole is about 4 feet from the northwest corner of Bldg A. I’ll snag some pictures tomorrow during the day.

I am sorry you are having this issue. Tower Shores didn’t request this or oversee it. I would assume Atlantic Watergate did not either. So that leaves Sussex County. Have you been able to reach out to anyone at the county to request covering the light, dimming the light or potentially removing the light? I will bring this up at our board meeting May 13th if you have not been able to resolve it. Please keep me posted. email@example.com

The AW board is on it and we have a path forward, so I don’t think we’ll need to add a distraction to the board meeting.

The people in back of us have an extremely bright light that shines into our bedroom all night long . Is this allowed ?
