I submitted our ballots last night and asked a question about the how the ballots are going to be counted.
I was told that they’ll be counted separately by 3 individuals who are not candidates. “Then the totals will be reconciled until the three people agree on a count. Results will be posted on the website and sent to you by email.”
Then I asked, “Do you know who they are yet? Do they represent a diversity of opinions about the proposed changes?”
The response I got was, “Yes, of course.”
I replied, “That’s great! Who are they?”
The response I got was, “This is starting to sound like you are questioning my integrity. If you were concerned about that you should have volunteered to head up the election committee.”
I responded, “Not at all. I don’t even know if you’re one of the three who will be counting the votes. I was just wondering about the process. One of your emails said to ask you any questions. Have the people who will count the votes not been selected already?
Should I have asked on the forum instead?”
I did not get a response.
Does anyone else know the answer to my question? Does anyone else care?

I have 4 main concerns. 1. fair and accurate counting of the votes 2. doing it in a Covid safe way 3. Getting it done in a timely manner so the results can be announced. 4. Maintaining the secrecy of the ballots as much as possible.
So far, as ballots have come in I have cross checked them against the owners list, marked them as voted and separated the ballots into an election group and a dog group.
Once the deadline arrives I will each do a count for both the Election and the Dog ballots. I will keep those results to myself.
I will then transport all of the ballots to Tower Shores where Miles Weigold has agreed to do a count with the results of our earlier count being unknown to him. Tricia McAdams has also agreed to do a count with the results of the earlier counts unknown to her.
We will then compare the counts to insure their accuracy and reconcile any differences we may find that could affect the outcome.
This is the same procedure we have used the last 4 or 5 years with good results except we are not doing it at the meeting.
Once we agree we will release the outcome by email and to the website
There will be an election again next year and I urge anyone interested, to volunteer as the Election Chairperson.

Thank you Eric. It seems volunteering in Tower Shores becomes a difficult task without much appreciation. Please continue to hear the praises of your willingness to help our community through your personal time over the few that only complain.

I didn’t complain or question anyone’s integrity. I appreciate the efforts of the community volunteers. I just wanted clarification about the voting process because it’s different than in the past when votes were counted at the annual meeting.
