The 1962 Hurricane

October 26, 2018

THIS PAGE IS STILL BEING PUT TOGETHER.

The photo was taken in March, 1962 after the  hurricane that devistated much of the DelMarVa peninsula. Notice the WWII watch tower in the lower right of the photo.  The A frame homes were vacation homes rented by Nomad Village, the large building in the center with a swimming pool behind it.  The house on the left is still standing on Bay Road, address 39558 Bay Road on lot # 24, owned by Dom Conoscenti and his wife who bought before the storm.  The home just to the right of Dom’s faces Admiral Road and at the time was owned by Pauline and Ralph Swann.  Address now is 39559 Admiral Road on lot #14.  The 3rd house across Admiral Road from Swann’s was replaced by a duplex many years ago.  Not much development South of Tower Shores in 1962!

Do you have Tower Shores photos from “back in the day”?  If yes, please send to milesweigold@mac.com or send me the photos.  I’ll scan and return, then share with others on this site.
